A marriage of true minds

For once this is not a self indulgent post - a celebration of my parents' 29th Wedding Anniversary. I feel now (as the years roll by) that I can never hope for such an accolade, but that is no reason to leave me bitter. In fact quite the opposite. I know I am incredibly lucky to have parents who are so truly in love. Not in a soppy "we never raise our voices or disagree on anything" way, but in a "we make each other laugh and despite all obstacles at the end of the day there's always you" way. I dream of that sort of love - it is truly wonderful to witness. So here is a very short, and possibly unbearably sweet, post dedicated entirely to my parents. Robert and Pauline, individually unbelievable but together? Well - there is no stopping you. I thank you for everything you've done, everything you stand for, your values, your personalities, your beings. I like to think I have inherited even an ounce of your good auras - and you never know, the night is young, perhaps an ounce of your marital success. Time will tell (but don't be too expectant!)
You'll join me up in Edinburgh tomorrow and we'll get to celebrate in person, but for now let us celebrate virtually, and I'll raise an imaginary toast to you (well, it is a Sunday, I suppose I could splash out on a real one). All my love and admiration for the best parents around. See you in less than 24 hours when we can sup 'live' bubbles together. All my love, always - you two are the best!
