It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Michael Bubbly eat your heart out. Yes, that's right, it IS beginning to look a lot like Christmas (or rather, a lot like a Christmas cake) as London town was be-sprinkled with snow yesterday evening. And - I don't want to brag - but I think it might have been all my doing.
Firstly, I put my brand new fairy lights on my (less brand new) festive Christmas tree. Secondly, Alice and I baked some Christmas brownies. What makes them 'Christmas' brownies?! I hear you type angrily on your keyboards. Well...there is a whole pack of mince pies in them. Yes, that's right - a WHOLE pack of mince pies have found their way into our brownie mixture. On purpose, of course, it wasn't some strangely harrowing festive accident or the slip of a candy cane. But I do think that the santa-loving scent of these brownies might just have summoned the spirit of Christmas, because but 30 minutes later, as we headed out to dinner, a sprinkling of snow began to form.

Much to our surprise, or chagrin, or amusement (I'm yet to decide which of the three I'm angling for) the snow settled not in the light dusting of a yule log, but in the thick royal icing of my mum's Christmas cake. Less delectable, but no less dramatic, this frosty blanket laid an atmosphere of unbridled joy (and uncontrollable goosebumps) for my journey back home. It was all really rather romantic. Apart from, that is, until you get inside, have to shake the encrusted white flakes off your now-bedraggled hat, warm your fingers up by the radiator that isn't working properly so that they are functional enough to lift the kettle and fill up your hot water bottle. And only then, deep under 7 blankets and wearing thermal socks, can you finally admit that "that was all a lot of fun, wasn't it"?

But really, all snarky and snide comments aside, the snow was a most welcome way to finish off a fun-filled and festive day. Alas, the commute this morning suffered because of it, but isn't that very much the fashion of Christmas times. The morning after the night before is never quite so beautiful or was quite as much fun in the cold light of day!

So really, all this is a very long-winded way of me saying "ooh, did you know it snowed in London" and "ooh, it was actually quite a lot", and "would you look at that? It's properly settled it has!" and "isn't this just so festive". But really, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas (and I, for one, CANNOT WAIT!)
